The New Ammonite Washbasin

HighTech introduce The New Ammonite Washbasin, a new concrete washbasin shaped as a fossil. Inspired by the archaic beauty of ammonites, this unique design showcases the organic qualities of concrete. The washbasin can be produced in widths between 90 cm and 330 cm with a standard depth of 56 cm and available in several colors.

Ammonites can be installed with two styles, either with a table-mounted or wall-mounted tap. Ammonites are an extinct species of cephalopods which lived in the sea about 400 million years ago. Their shells are found all over the world and they are very much sought after by fossil hunters, their collector’s value depending on size and the state of preservation. The fascinating shape of ammonite fossils , which resembles a rolled up helix, is the basic design element in the new HighTech washbasin.

The association of water and fossil design is a clear allusion to the prehistoric inspiration for the Ammonite washbasin.

The Body Shop Moringa Collection

Moringa oil comes from the Moringa tree, which has been used for its health and beauty benefits for more than 4,000 years. Now The Body Shop is using pure moringa seed oil for its high levels of oleic acid, a fatty acid that helps restore the skin’s moisture levels, protects against drying and keeps the skin feeling soft.

The oil is harvested by hand from the Moringa tree seeds which grow in a pod at the center of the flower after fertilization. The fragrance of the new line of products is based on these flowers. It’s a sweet floral scent that gets me in the mood for summer.

There is also a body scrub, $20, body lotion, $13, foaming bath, $15, shower gel, $11, and soap, $3.50.

New Fashion Week 2009

The New York Fashion Week 2008 has already surprised us with several interesting and unusual apparel decisions. I hope we never go back to last years trends! Instead of providing coverage of  designer collections and trademarks, I’ve decided to focus on TRENDS. So here are the 5 main trends of the New Fashion Week 2009 :

  • Sequins and gloss

While no the hottest trend, it is still on the top of our popularity list. Just shine and everything will be more than fine! But make sure it’s within reason.

  • Tuxedo style

I must say, tuxedos look so attractive. They hold such a great combination of sexual appeal and bold attitude. Tuxedo jackets are perfect with skirts and trousers.

  • Half sleeves

A really convenient trend that also helps to hide heavy arms.

  • Headbands

Headbands have become extremely popular again. Designers have created a great number of them this season for you to choose from.

  • Jumpsuit

Very bold decision to wear a monochromatic jumpsuit. But it sure makes you look stylish and so tall.

LG Watch Phone

The 2009 Consumer Electronics Show may be subdued after last year’s extravaganza of HD-capable devices, but some products have developed quite a buzz among tech geeks and gadget freaks. One of them is the introduction of the world’s first watch-phone by LG.

The LG Watch Phone was unveiled in this exhibit and has cast both disbelief and doubt among its many attendees. And it is very much understandable. For one, the specs are not fully-detailed and only the models were allowed to use the watch phone for demonstration purposes. Even respected tech reporters are not allowed to touch the watch phone. It was that secretive.

But what we do know is that what used to be a gadget that can only be seen on spy films can become a reality after so many lame attempts. At first glance, the LG Watch Phone looks really sleek and shiny strap and metallic case. It has three buttons on its right side, for Talk, Clear, and End. At the upper-right corner of the face you would see a tiny camera, ideal for video conferencing. We have yet to learn whether this is a megapixel or VGA camera.

Its 1.43-inch screen may seem too small, especially when we learned that it is actually touch-screen. It functions like a cross between an iPhone and iPod, with every press of the menu creates a transition to the right. The model also demonstrated how easy it is to dial-and supposedly text message-with the Watch Phone using your fingertip (not your fingernail, mind you). LG claims that the touch screen is sensitive enough even if the hand is covered with a golf glove.

The LG Watch Phone also comes with a music player that sounds surprisingly loud. It also supports stereo Bluetooth so that you can listen to your tunes using a Bluetooth headset. LG claims that the watch phone can hold up to 70MB of memory, but that can change by the time the device launches. It will have quad-band GSM and 3G/ HSDPA.

The LG Watch Phone will be available in Europe in late 2009, with no definite plan on when it will be released in the United States. The watch will be available in a variety of colors, from black to red, and even pink. Pricing, however, is still a secret.

New Sony HDR-XR500V HD Camcorder

Sony has recently released their new HDR-XR500V HD camcorder. It features 1920 x 1080 HD video recording, GPS geo-tagging, and a pretty massive 120 GB hard disk drive (though not as impressive as Sony HDR-XR520V’s mammoth 240GB HDD). At the rate Sony is going, it’s not surprising that we’ll see Terabyte Handycams in the near future.

The new Sony HDR-XR500V’s geo-tagging enables you to nail down exactly where a certain video clip was taken on a global map. This feature looks enticing, and many people are jazzed about the fact that they can record anywhere and track the exact spot by using a set of coordinates. Sony also carried over the HDR-SR12′s Cam Control dial feature, loved by many users for its remarkable manual control navigation.

In addition to the Sony G lens, it also incorporates Exmor-R technology, which delivers excellent lowlight performance. What’s more, the new Sony HDR-XR500V lets you shoot 12.1 MP still images. Ancillary features include Face Detection, Smile Shutter, a built-in GPS receiver, and a stunning Optical Image Stabilization that can detect up to 8 faces at once. This camcorder is smaller than its predecessors, the HDR-SR11 and HDR-SR12. The HDR-XR500V HD costs $1,299.99.

Blackberry Fever : Javelin

News Blackberry information this time on the Javelin. In form, Javelin is not much different with the previous Blackberry product. The difference is, screen width and a much more space (480 x 360 pixels), of course to rival the mobile phone that offers a beautiful display which is comfort to your eyes.

Beside the screen, Javelin will likely use a new processor, not Intel Xscale. The processor named ArgonV, we  has not yet get more information, also whether or not the Intel product. Other standard features just for Blackberry.

Unfortunately this phone does not accommodate the benefits of 3G or HSDPA connectivity. Javelin will offer only GPRS and EDGE data. However, Javelin has  stunning battery life. Javelin also comes with pre-installed third party software, from Facebook to instant messaging. With only GPRS data connection, downloading map data won’t be as as it is with the Bold or the Storm. Perhaps people in the United States and Canada have been quite satisfied  use the WiFi connection which is more reliable.
